Mecca Riane is a portrait photographer and visual artist born and raised in New Mexico. She has had a camera in her hands for as long as she can remember, beginning around the age of three, deeply influenced by her mother’s film photography. From an early age, she was drawn to creating through the image medium, whether through photography, editing, experimentation, or visual storytelling.

With over a decade of experience both behind and in front of the camera, Mecca specializes in capturing moments of intentional and spontaneous connection through dynamic fashion, editorial, and creative portraiture. Her formal passion for photography deepened at the age of fifteen, when she began studying Fine Arts and Media Arts at Santa Fe Community College.

Through ongoing partnerships with Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, now Santa Fe Workshops (SFW), Mecca has continued to refine her technical skills and expand her artistic vision. She attributes much of her growth to influential courses such as Studio Lighting with Nicolas Rapaz, The Language of Black and White with Cira Crowell, and The Editorial Portrait with Natural Light with Celeste Sloman. She has also had the opportunity to work alongside and learn from highly regarded creatives including Albert Watson, Joe McNally, Andrew Eccles, Keith Carter, Sarah Silverman, Kurt Markus, Greg Gorman, Kurt Iswarienko, and many more.

With a strong background in both photography and modeling, Mecca brings a fresh, multifaceted perspective to her craft. Her work centers on the beauty, individuality, and presence of the people she photographs, creating images that feel both expressive and deeply connected.
